Questions advocates ask first.
Does it invent cases?
No case citation reaches you unless the cited judgment is in the retrieved record. An authority the record cannot verify is stripped to doctrine in a memo, or removed and visibly marked in a document. Every check is logged.
Which courts are in the record?
The Supreme Court of India from 1950 and the Calcutta High Court from 2018, in full text, to August 2026. A judgment of any other court will not be found and is marked "outside corpus — unverifiable by us" — never "fabricated".
Does it verify statute citations?
Yes. Every judgment and every statute section a memo cites is checked against the text in our record — the judgment itself, or the Act as in force on your date. A citation that fails is removed or marked, never presented as verified. The record holds 875 Acts — 829 central Acts with the Constitution and both generations of the criminal codes, 35 Maharashtra Acts and 10 West Bengal Acts. A State Act we have not loaded (most states other than West Bengal and Maharashtra today) is marked “not in our library”, not “wrong”.
Does it check that a case says what it is cited for?
It verifies that the judgment exists and that the quoted text is in it, and an independent second reader gives a verdict on each grounded proposition. Read the authority before you rely on it; the certificate tells you which kind of check was made.
Are the paragraph numbers the court’s?
No. They are our extract numbers. Verify against the certified report before filing.
Is it legal advice?
No. CICERRO is a research aid. The advocate signs what is filed.
Who can see my matters?
Only your account. This is enforced in the application on every request today; database-level row policies are the next phase.
Where is my data?
Compute and the database are in Mumbai. To draft a memo, your query, the retrieved passages and any attached document are sent to third-party language-model providers outside India; we do not yet have zero-retention terms with them, which is why we ask you not to upload confidential client material during the beta.
How do I get access?
Request it on this site. Access is by invitation, one address at a time. An invited address creates an account with an email and password; there is no third-party sign-in.
What does it cost?
Nothing during the private beta. Verification will never be tiered by price; plans will differ in capacity and breadth only.
Does it list or recommend advocates?
No. CICERRO is a tool for practitioners; it does not publish profiles or solicit clients on anyone’s behalf.
